7200 Frames is the new reality TV property from Titmouse Studios in Hollywood that is set to light Comic-con on fire with their open casting call taking place on an animator and beer riddled party boat.   Are you kidding?  Pretty sure it’s time to learn how to animate.

7200 Frames is a reality docu-series that will follow 12 crazy, talented animators that will compete to create the best 5 minute animation short.  In addition to featuring the artists and their work, it will also expose what happens behind the scenes when creating animated film.  Three films will be selected to go into production, while the remaining artists will participate as crew members.

Sounds pretty simple, right?  Wrong.  In only 5 minutes there are a whopping 7,200 individual frames of animation that have to be completed to perfection.  Yikes.

At Comic-con this year in San Diego the 7200 Frames / Titmouse Studios team are captaining a party barge to act as their backdrop for open casting calls for this new series.  That means that any animator that finds themselves in lovely Southern California at Comic-con in July needs to have their portfolio and their sea legs.

Here’s how they say it’s going to go:

The artist must be able to draw, animate and direct- as well as commit to a 4-6 week exclusive production schedule.

OPTION 1:  Comic-con Throw Down

  1. Drag your happy ass to Comic-con
  2. Find this mysterious boat
  3. Show work and be interviewed on camera (you’ll have 5 min)
  4. Regale friends and comrades with stories of the “7200 Frames Party Boat”

Option 2:  YouTube Video Submission

  1. Create “Why 7200 Frames needs me and my work” YouTube video submission
  2. Post it
  3. Send youtube link in an email to:  subanimate@gmail.com
  4. Deadline:  July 3rd, 2009.

Sounds like a gold-plated plan to us.  Speaking of top-shelf stuff, we can’t not mention Titmouse.net in greater detail.

This band of freaks are not only the creators of 7200 Frames, but are a creative clan of like-minded, action-oriented artists & creators dedicated to all that is bad-ass.   You read right:  ”dedicated to all that is bass-ass.”  Additionally, they shamelessly profess to subscribing to the tried and true MBA mindset of “making cool shit”.  They are based in Hollywood and specialize in traditional animation using the most state-of-the-art digital techniques.  In five short years, they’ve produced a string of very high profile (and highly successful) projects for feature film, national commercial ad campaigns, cable TV, broadcast TV and well known film and TV main title sequences.  We guess that means they can work across all media platforms.

Is it too late to change The Saiko’s mission statement to “We Make Cool Shit”?
