Waterfall Record Set by Kayaker Tyler Bradt: 186 Feet

Tyler breaks the world record for kayak.

Your good friend Tyler Bradt shattered the world record for dropping off a waterfall in a kayak with a fall of 186 feet / 60 meters.  For those of you at home, that’s the equivalent of jumping off a 19 story building with a kayak strapped to your bum.  Like you, The Saiko thought it was a great idea and are glad that Tyler did it before we did.

All kidding aside, Bradt has found himself in a bit of a duel for breaking records recently.  His arch-nemesis (not really, but it heightens the drama here at The Saiko) from Brazil, Pedro Oliveira, broke the previous record with his jump of 127 ft.  The record Oliveira broke was Bradt’s old one.  See where we’re going with this?

Bradt broke the record at Palouse Falls in Washington State, USA.  His previous record was set in Canada.  When asked about the feat he responded with a yoda-like, “I hope it encourages people not to run huge waterfalls but to understand that the only limits that exist are the ones you create, no matter what you are doing.”  Nice disclaimer, hoss.

Not only is Bradt ballsy, but he shares a characteristic found among professional cyclists that we love.  He acknowledges that he did a great job, but without his team he couldn’t have achieved it.  He didn’t thank some god, he thanked the people that were there ensure he didn’t die.  Check it out:

“The team we had was amazing. Everyone brought to the table a different skill set and played crucial roles”

We know exactly what you mean, TB.  Keep on shredding.
